-> Give the chance to 36 young people from four countries to engage in intercultural dialogue and discover hiking as a mean of intercultural communication;
-> Develop knowledge and abilities to practice safely hiking;
-> Raise awareness about the benefits of outdoor activities and therefore promote an active lifestyle among young people through hiking.
This Youth Exchange aimed to provide a unique opportunity for 36 young individuals from four different countries to engage in intercultural dialogue and discover hiking as a means of intercultural communication.
Throughout the program, our primary objectives were successfully achieved. Participants not only had the chance to explore the breathtaking beauty of nature through hiking but also developed essential knowledge and abilities to practice this outdoor activity safely. As a result, they gained valuable insights into the benefits of outdoor activities, fostering an active and healthy lifestyle among the youth.
Hiking, being an excellent outdoor activity suitable for almost everyone, showcased its myriad of benefits for both physical and mental well-being. Moreover, regardless of their athletic abilities, each participant, with the help of our devoted trainers and ASCU members, found a hiking trip that provided the right level of personal challenge, promoting self-confidence and growth.
The success of the program can be attributed to the focus on experiential learning, which facilitated personal, social, and environmental interactions among the participants. Through this experience exchange, young people from diverse backgrounds and nationalities transcended cultural and traditional barriers, gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for one another.
Our region of Rhone-Alpes served as the ideal backdrop for this exchange, offering a plethora of hiking possibilities in close proximity. The scenic landscapes and natural beauty not only inspired participants but also heightened their connection to nature and environmental consciousness.
As an organization, together with our dedicated partners, we are immensely proud of the impact "Mountain Buddies" has had on the lives of these young individuals. The program's success has undoubtedly strengthened intercultural ties, encouraged a passion for outdoor activities, and instilled a sense of responsibility towards preserving nature.
We extend our gratitude to the European Commission and Erasmus+ for making this project possible. The enduring memories and friendships formed during "Mountain Buddies" will undoubtedly leave a lasting positive impact on the lives of the participants, nurturing a generation of global citizens united by their love for nature and appreciation for diverse cultures.
